Hi Guys,
A friend of mine has a 96 PSD, No mods all stock. He keeps having problems with it shuting down on him. Last night it ran fine for a while then shut down, it restarted but when he gave it throttle it fell flat on its face and died. So we towed it to a parking lot and went back about 4 hrs later to get it and it started right up and he drove it home with no problems. Any suggestions on what could be happening?

If you are saying its a problem when warm ,it may not be the CPS ,,may be IPR o rings ..
It could be when it is warm the last two times it happened he was out plowing snow with it. The first time he tapped on the ICP sensor and it fired up and ran great until saturday nite it did the same thing, only we couldnt get it to start. Let it sit for 4 hrs went back to get it with a trailer and it started right up and he drove it home with no problems.
almost sounds like what mine was doing, and it ended up being a connector whose exact purpose escapes me (...JOE??? the ghetto redneck one!) to the passenger side of the fuel filter bowl. she'd die randomly, start up again, run a few miles, and then quit. and then she finally quit completely and cranked good but no start. also had a bad cps along with that (yes, i have bad luck lol)
the connector on your truck katie, runs to the ipr and fuel bowl i beleive, cant recall all the wires on it.
the issue with this truck could be cam sensor or high pressure oil related, if its stalled that many times then it should have codes stored in it, get it scanned.
