Finally went.

Took my truck n'to the shop the other day finally found a shop that appears to know what their looking at! They reported the head gaskets were shot. (paid anouther shop $90 to hook it up up and tell me "nothing wrong") My heat hasnt worked for several winters, losing coolant regularly. I had the "beer bottle noise" for several years has gotten worse(different) this winter.
Got ARP head studs to the shop, Northern Auto ended up being close to 5 bills to the door. Supposedly went up in price first of year? Got a Liberator EGR delete. (Thought I might as well while's in there.) The shops mechanic is able to to replace the head gaskets w/out removing the cab, so warranty will not cover lifting the cab witch needs to be done to actually install the ARP studs. Thats going to cost me an extra $225.
Have any of you guys that have had your head/gaskets replaced under warranty found a shop that doesnt have to lift the cab? I thought that was a big part of the expence of the job. I guess I assumed that lifting the cab was part of the Fords warranty head gasket replacement expence into any head/gasket reimbursement to the shop.
I think its great that he can do it w/out lifting the cab, (if I were paying for the job outta pocket just for head/gaskets) but if ford includes that in there warranty reimbursement, I would like to know so's I dont get over billed on something Ford half-arsed form the factory!
Like I say, I belive that I'm happy with the shop so far I just would like to know if any of you know the exact warranty coverage. I would rather slip the wrench an extra $200 for taking care of my 'extra' needs than give it to the dealer ship for a warranty over charge.

So your truck is still under warranty? Does Ford honor another shops work with their warranty? I don't know. Although some techs like to pull the motor and others like to lift the cab, its really up to the tech who is doing the work on the 6.0's. The trucks with the 6.4's are designed to have the cabs pulled for pretty much everything. Of course some techs are finding ways of modifying their tools to reach places and bolts/nuts that can't usually be reached to not have to remove the cabs on them. So is the shop you took your truck to pulling your motor?

My truck is an '04 it was built early 'o4. I purchased it new in late in '04. 5yr 100k warranty. That should still be covered correct? The shop I took it to is an actuall Ford dealer. I use "terms" loosly cuz both my 6.0l are in there too much for as much as they cost.
To the best of my knowledge he wasnt pulling the motor or lifting the cab. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was part of Fords warranty coverage to pay for 'cab lifting' or if was up to the shop if they needed to do it?

Ford will pay X amount of "hours" to do the job. The WSM (work shop manual) doesnt have you lift the cab to do the job. However most techs find it more profitable to just lift the cab and have at it. The amount of time it takes to lift the cab is far less then having to pull the other junk off and work around everything, IMO. In actuality it wont take anymore time to lift the cab, but hey if they are willing to do the studs for you under warranty, I wouldnt rock the boat. $225 is far less then having to pay for it out of pocket.

My shop did my HG/ARP studs without lifting the cab or pulling the motor. I saw the mechanic had ALOT of stuff removed from the top of the engine (turbo down) and a blanket/pad for him to lay on ontop of the engine. I sure hope he torqued it down to 245 this way!

What did your shop in GP quote you for the head gasket job? I had a shop in Leduc quote $5500.
