so you want to purposely "blow your headgaskets" so you can take it in and have a dealership put in studs under warranty?

i am currently in the process of buying a truck. I like the reliability of the 7.3 but dont like the transmissions. i like the power of the 6.0 but dont like the stud problems.

yea sure, you can do that. It will cost an as$load of money to pay them straight up though. IMO, I don't think most dealerships would go out of there way to take on the job...they might send you to a known diesel shop in the area. this is more of a question for the dealership.

Ford doesn't usually do studs for the helluva it because the customer wants studs put in. The heads have to need it and then sometimes the dealership still tries to do other stuff to "fix" it. Sometimes you can get a deal with a local performance shop and it'll be cheaper then a dealership, although, I'm one of the lucky ones that has a dealership that matches just about every shop(atleast every one that I would want to deal with) within the area(BDP is cheaper but it's a longer drive, but I still use them when it requires specialty in the mod. sector to do the repair work). If you want to have ford do it, more then likely your going to need to have head problems which will require blown headgaskets(you might find one willing to do it despite not having symptoms but that will be a lucky find.

well that easily shows proof that the "headgaskets can blow" on a stock truck. So...you obviously increase the chances with a "power adder". It is hit or miss.

That isn't easy to say, you might actually get a truck whose heads were done right and it would take alot to get it to blow and then again it might take a month of ragging on it before it gets warmed up and then tea kittle whistle(not the only sign of blown gaskets, just one that I had and one that is easily identified(atleast I think so)).

this is how it works in a dealership first we determine what bew the gaskets and belive me we can second if we find that is a ligit concern we fix it back to STOCK not with studs ford does not approve of them and wont allow them to be installed under warrenty and if we find it was a deliberate attempt to this you be paying for the whole job my adive is to have a good shop do it becase if you take it to a dealer with a good diesel tech he will figure it out and void your warrenty
