Thanks Diane. I guess JW ask a lot more questions then Brian does. I don't know enough about this to understand what the difference is. But, I guess there is one.
I'm not sure what you mean by that one, Rick. I've thought some more on this, and I think that unless the pump issue that I mentioned before is more important than I think it is, either way will help the tranny live longer. I honestly prefer the TransGo method myself (and apparently so does Brian!), so the tunes must be tweaked to match. But if you go with a JW, you keep the stock tunes. Both have their benefits, but I LOVE how my tranny feels now. I wish I had the opportunity to ride in a truck with a JW VB for comparison...

Like I said Joe, I don't know much about how the trans shifts. I like the way my truck shifts, so I am good with the BTS-VB. While live tuning with Jody, I wanted a little stiffer shift on a tune, he punched on his computer and said try this. Just right. . As long as he can fix it, I am good.
I'm just going to come out and say it. I'm not very confident in a tranny mod that still calls for SW tuning for increased line pressures/shorter shifting. Ideally, the tranny should be doing this on its own, and the tuning should be set up to match the much better shifting tranny, IMHO. I guess you could argue six in one, half dozen in the other, but from what I read, it IS better to have the tranny hardware mods instead of relying on tuning
That's exactly why I went with the Factory Tech valve body from Gregg Evans. It definitely firmed things up! I think my shifts are almost as fast as an F1 car! Okay, maybe not quite the .05 seconds that they shift gears in but it certainly feels like in in a 7500lb truck!
Since I don't have any tunes it fit right into my budget and I was able to install it when I got it without having to do any other mods.

Not every trans builder will do their trans the same. It is just the same if you were to get FTVB or a suncoast. There all set up differently and Jody has to tune them all differently. It was found by JW during testing that Jody did not need to do anything differnet in his tunes for the shifts be perfect with John's VB. That's the only reason you don't need new tunes with John's VB.

Thanks again Diane. I understand what you just said. I guess John and Jody are on the same page with building the VB and tuning the chip. I see where that may benifit some people on here.
