I have a 2003 F250 with the small "paddle style" mirrors. I am thinking about installing the towing mirrors with the heated glass, as my mirrors ice up in the winter, and are useless when that happens. I am familiar with the wiring needed and I am not worried about that. I know that the tow mirrors stick out considerably more when open, but what I am wondering, is if there is any added width to the truck with the mirrors folded. When I pull my truck into my shop with the paddle mirrors folded, I have about 1-2 inches of clearance on either side of the truck. If I install the towing mirrors, will I be able to get the truck into my shop ???
The 08/09 power folding trailer tow mirrors measure 85.5 inches wide when folded. The manual versions should fold to the same dimension. This is very good considering the maximum body width is just under 80 inches.
I'm pretty sure the paddle mirrors are tighter to the body. I had a set of them at some point and the pivot is an inch or two further in IIRC, it was a while ago. But you've got some good measurements to go on as far as width. I can't get into my garage because my truck is too tall.
