Hopefully there is a parts guy on here who can me.I replaced my vacuum pump back in May.Now it's starting to make a little noise like it did before. So I 'm thinking that it wore out way too soon.I've had the truck a little over a year and when I bought it the last owner included new air, fuel, filters and new sepentine belt.I checked the receipt everything matched,so I changed everything with the new parts in Oct.07. New pump was needed in May 08. I decided to check on line to see if my Dayco belt is the right one. Two places I checked online say I need Dayco 5081190,I installed Dayco 5081195. Does any one know what the difference in the numbers are.Belt went right on and seams to have the right tension. I just want to make sure this belt is not causing my pump to fail. Thanks
Thank you for the info on the belt. And no I didn't lube anything on the pump. Didn't know I needed to .I just pulled the pump off,and pulled the pulley off and swapped it to the new pump. Then bolted it back on. I didn't see in my manual about lubing anything. What did I miss ? I'm still learning about the 7.3. Thanks
There's a set of bearings at each end of the shaft, you cant do anything with the front one but at the rear there is a plug (bolt) that you can remove to add a mix of grease and 90W gear oil.
The belts are not that expensive; I'd suggest you get the correct belt and keep the other as a spare. The tension system accomodates some stretching of new belts but you've likely used up that with the longer belt. I wouldn't risk slippage when you can correct it without much cost or labor. CJ

I checked the other day at advance auto for a belt and they wanted 68.00. is that the going price?
