i have a 51 f1 5 star cab. im trying to put back together. is there somewhere i can see pics of the differences in the reg and 5 stars?
i know they have locks on the doors but im confused as to what the trim on the hood is supposed to be. is it with 3 spears and the u hoop to connect the top and bottom spear or is it with the single spaer?
yep you got it! this is a 51 F-7 five star cab with the hood trim as you describe. the regular cabs just would have the center chrome only.
My 51 F1 is a regular cab but I am considering putting on the five star trim, I would just have to drill a few holes in the hood to attach it?
You could drill holes in the hood, but you probably have to get the placement right for the holes. There are more than a few holes that hold the Deluxe trim in place.
I have a 51 Deluxe truck (hood) from which I removed the trim. I could use that hood to make a pattern of the holes.
If you guys are not in a rush, I can make a pattern sometime soon once I find a suitable paper??? material and send it to the both of you.
BTW, I have a 51 hood on my 52 Panel. It was installed by the previous owner. Although he did put on the correct side spears, he never attached the "F1" medallion emblem that goes over the spears.... because there were no holes. I had to drill the sides of the hood (without any reference to a 52 hood) in order to attach the medallions. I hope I got the distance correct.
I think you'll find that the trim on JMadsen's truck is mounted incorrectly. The tip of the spear mounts under the inner edge of the "horse shoe". Here's a pic. Stu
ya got any good pics of a 48-50 five star stu or anyone ? wondering if my old f-4 i had was i think it had door locks on both ... dont have no pics right now though ... city turned all the power off in the 'hood to work on some lines , when it came back on somehow the 'putor with all my pics hicuuped and threw everything up / crashed , and set off the house alarm ... it'd be good to know so i can let george know who owns her now .
What is being called a "5 Star" in this thread should more correctly be termed the "5 Star Extra" package. The base trim was the "5 Star". The "5 Star Extra" was introduced in 1951 and carried on to 1952. There was no similar trim package on 48 to 50s.
I have compiled a list of the 5 Star Extra options that were available from the factory and dealers. The information I have is from the various manuals and the Truck Handbook (Salesmans Handbook). If you send me a PM with your real e-mail address, I'l be happy to send it to you.

And I have compiled pictures of the difference in Standard cab vs. 5 Star Extra cab options, and some other options that you have on your list.
My collection is not complete and is only collected from the parts are have available or have run across in the past. I will be adding more to my picture collection as I find them. Which reminds me, I need to get a picture of the super rare windshield washer bottle assembly for our trucks. I have it the garage.
I'm curious about something in one of your pictures though - perhaps you could tell me.....In the photo of the close up of the Fresh Aire Heater door - where the boot belongs. I noticed you still had the round ring that the boot attaches too.
Is that bolted through the cowl side onto the duct, and is it removeable?
I have a '52 F1 and trying to determine the difference between a standard and 5-star cab. As I am in the process of redoing the seat, I would like to get it right.
The original truck color was RED.
It "had" a black headliner.
The seat was recovered and there is no evidence left of what it would have been.
