- 27 dgr C....

it ....ng cold here!

I started my aero this morning and got no oil pressure for some seconds. I had lifter noise. well, in a minute ore less I got 4 BAR pressure (I have mechanical gauge).

Draw to work in cold van. When I was at work coolant temperature was +36 dgr C (I have digital sensor).... stalled engine.... Oil pressure slowly go down....

Seems to me 10w30 is not good enought for so cold weather.

-27 - it was this morning, but what a temperature was this night?

I can magine how it is bad in some EU countries.... Putin does not wants to sell NG for $450 for 1000 m3, Ukraine wants it twice cheaper and wants to get more money for transportation, Putin closed valve... as result Ukraine has NG, EU - not...

US made block heaters are for 110V, we have 220-250/380 V here.... and 50 Hz....

6 yeas ago we had -37 dgr C, I had to keep battry home tonight

And no AC on parkings....

Onese 5 years we have so low temperatures. Usually we have New Year Rain.....

And as I can see ex.USSR is totally heated with natural gas. I was in Germany last year and I see that there are many coal/wood stoves, electrical heaters....

I know about the difference, I lived in Europe for ten years in Italy (1995-2005). Most homes there use a combination of fuels to heat, with quite a few using wood pellet stoves now as they're more economical.
Good luck to you brother!

I run my '95 3.0L with 10W30 Full Synthetic oil (new 950CC battery, new starter and new solenoid) and I NEVER plug it in. She has started with no hesitation at -35C.

Hi Pablo, yeah we use Kms & litres & *C temp here. But we use Inches for measurment !!

Also recommended oil in Canada is 5w20 or 5w30 (summer). Sounds like you could go down to 0w20 for now & you'd be fine!

and T. Boone Pickens wants to shift America over to natural gas LNG powered transportation. what happens when Canadian wells run dry or the Canucks get smart and demand what their NG is really worth?

can't imagine my poor little Aero trying to make any power on LNG.
ever see a propane powered rig blow up, not pretty.

hydrogen, bring it on.

OBDII systems will be easy to reprog for hydrogen op.

Russia wants to rise price for NG, Ukrainians say: well! we rise piping price now...

The truth is that Russia wants to controll Ukraine with NG price. And not Ukraine only......

LNG is not used on passenger vehicles. CNG only (compressed NG). All city buses here are CNG powered. There are many CNG powered US-made trucks and cars here, my friend has 3 CNG tanks under his '86 aero with 4 banger. CNG - 8-10% power loss, but CNG is 30% cost of gas. I'd like to prefere LPG. 50% of gas cost, but less high pressure related problems like freezeng ruductors, warming up and ect.

1l of LPG is $0.40 here, 1L of gas is $0.80.... last year LPG was $0.80, gas was over $1.30 per litre.

The real problem of CNG and LPG is that it is easy to convert gas engine. Diesel engine looses a half of power.... and we have no bigger then 8L gas engines here.... all big gas ngines were build in USSR, now engine bigger then 5 L is diesel, all trucks are diesel powered. that's why I think shifting semis to LNG needs new engines to be built.

I now have a CNG F250..Ford developed it's 5.4 ohc engine with high-compression to make up for the natural gas operation..fires right up in this cold weather. Too bad there are not enough filling stations around here, otherwise, I would not be selling it!
France and Italy are going big for CNG vehicles, also...
And on another note, the world's largest field of natural gas was discovered in 2008,
in Rawlings, Wyoming. We can get by, most likely, without the middle-east's oil.
It just takes some 'ol-fashioned yank know-how!

I wanted to convert aero to CNG, but now I would like to use LPG. Low price and many filling stations

pablo,
are your LPG conversion kits there using a propane injection nozzle plate between throttle body and plenum?

you should get nice dense air intake charges there with the cold winters. need about 12:1 minimum dynamic compression and more timing advance to really get the power out of LPG.

stupid US car manufs. wasted billions on flex/ethanol fuel vehicle development and marketing. bet there aren't 100 stations here selling E85 or higher. destroyed many boat marine engines with their ethanol garbage and added billions of $$s to our fuel costs.

waste of good corn sour mash liquor. I know the Ukrainians aren't wasting their billions of rubles on ethanol from corn and wheat. Stuff is meant to be used to make good vodka not for a gas tank.

any problems there with the LPG bottles freezing up in winter with poor vaporization?

oil companies here are fighting alternative fuels in autos and even the commercial transportation industry. we have a few buses now with LPG but rare. they do have very nice effective heaters for passenger winter comfort.
