throttle surge

I have a 04 F150 4x4, some times at wide open throttle my truck like bogs and then picks back up, and if I manually shift it bogs until I place it in drive and it picks up and takes off. But even still with my programmer in place my 03 F150 4x4 will run circles around it, and I have no power adders on the 03. Both have the 5.4 but the 03 is a 2V and the 04 is a 3V, can someone tell me what the heck is going on

I don't know about the 03, but your 04 has a speed limiter biult into the computer. You can use a programer such as an Edge to increase the limit but I don't think you can eliminate it.

My truck has been doing the same thing since about 40,000 miles, i thought it was just mine, its a 04 fx4 5.4 3v. then a few weeks ago my little brother bought one just like mine and his does the same thing as mine. I cut my stock muffler off and placed a flowmaster on and his has a cat back system on it but other than that both trucks are stock. My older brother is a mechanic and has scanned both trucks for a code or something several times and can not come up with anything, he told me a while back that the fuel pump may not be able to keep up at the higher rpm's. At about 75,000 miles my fuel pump finally went out and after a new pump the problem was still there and it had not changed a bit so i don't think its the fuel pump...

The truck does act as if it is starving for fuel, my injectors have been changed, my filter and my pump so i don't know where else to turn. It only does it on a steep incline when i am at wot or when i am passing someone..

I Got A 04fx4 With A Edge, Exhaust, And Intake And She Runs Good. Might Be Having A Plug Or A Coil Going Bad. Also Check All Your Fluids.

All fluids are good, other than replacing all of the plugs and coil packs how would you narrow that down some? It does not always do it and its not like once it hits a certain rpm the problem starts, its really strange. Last week i was pulling a 27' camper trailer full of camping equipment and i was trying to make it miss and it would not, I got about 3 miles from where i had to drop the trailer at and then it started.

IF YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED YOUR PLUGS YET YOU MIGHT WANT TO SOON. AS FAR AS THE COILS, JUST LOOK FOR CRACKS ON IT WHEN YOU TAKE IT OFF.<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=subheader colSpan=3></TD></TR><TR><TD class=border colSpan=3></TD></TR><TR><TD colSpan=3></TD></TR><TR><TD class=left_nav vAlign=top width=162 rowSpan=2>
