Ok guys i have an 04 f250 5.4 4x4 250k miles+ ...the truck has been acting weird lately. I has 0 power...i went to pass an 18 wheeler today at about 15 mph and gave it about half throttle...well it held first gear till about 5 grand then slammed into 2nd...It just has 0 umph ... it wont even consistanly pick up speed at half throttle or over..the rpms will stop ...then pick up...then stop...it always accelerated smoothly....it is bogging really bad...it was downshifting into 3rd today on little overpass hills that it NEVER does that on...something is telling me torque converter ...any help is GREATLY appreciated. BTW no codes and no flashing overdrive light
i was thinking the same thing redford...thanks for the input...i greatly respect your advise....westx i highly doubt that is the problem but i will try it...keep the replies comming guys...thanks in advance..also redford...i monitored...my Aitr intake temp on the way home..and it was 100 degrees ....which is about what the ambient temp was....at idle it went to 120..if that helps
well guys i took a sawzal to the cat and with a hammer and chisel i hollowed it out and welded it back on...after a short trip around the block...seems to be alot better...i will be pulling 10k on a 3k trailer tomorrow...so i will let yall know ....sounds funny now btw :/
it didnt look to be ... upon further driving ...my truck threw a p0171 code and i did a little research....i cleaned and oiled my K&N filter yesterday....i think i over oiled it ...took some mass airflow cleaner to the mass airflow sensor and cleared my codes....i havent driven it ...im gonna let it dry good til morning ....
That seems to be a common problem with the K&N. I bought a drop-in new (so factory oiled) and it gunked up my MAF sensor.. Needless to say I got rid of it and went to paper Wix filter. I'll never use one again.
stoped by my local ford dealer for a replacement fuel line after the fuel filter cause the PO damaged it...i have been running the same fuel filter for 130k....and it has prolly been on there much longer...i was shocked....almost $400 for the line.... they damaged it trying to remove it from the filter with the wrong tools ....guesss ill have to bite the bullet
