Hooker or Hedman Headers?

(On a 73" F250 w/ 390. 2wd.)

Alrighty, guys...Should I spend $180-190 at my local hot rod shop for the Hooker's or buy the Hedmans for $180 from my AutoZone?
These will be on probably 2.25 or 2.5 inch pipe with CherryBombs.

(assuming it all comes together. We'll see. If not, back to my worn 2" pipes).

=D

Hooker or Hedman Headers?

I had a set of Hedman's on my '93 Mustang GT. They were a good fit and were good quality for the price.

I have heard good things about both brands. I personaly have a set of Hooker's and think they are high quality but i don't think you can go wrong with either brand.

take a look at the Hedman Elites. For around $300 you get 14 guage tubing, and 3/8 inch flange, and thermal coating. I just put a set on and they fit and seal terrific.

Look at
www.summitracing.com
or
www.jegs.com

got them in about three days.

Hooker or Hedman Headers?

In my oppinion Hedman headers are junk. I bought a set of Hedmans and put them on my 89 f150 302 4x4. The drivers side header hit on the front drive shaft. I called Headman to see what the deal was and they told me that they were made for an auto transmission only. They said that the reason why they were not made for a manual is because of clutch linkage. I told them that my 89 has a slave cylinder on the inside of the trany bell housing. After I told them that, they came up with another excuse, that the dirve shaft was in a different place on an auto vs. a manual. I believe that they gave me the run around, so I sent the headers back to jegs and got the Hooker headers. The Hooder headers fit very nice. I wont ever buy Hedmans again.

Hooker or Hedman Headers?

though not a truck site, it has some pretty good reviews of different companys and products. heres the link:

personally, i would go with hedmans, but theyre one of the last places that make headers for the 300, so thats biased just a little. but bassani nad hooker both make decent products, just make sure you know it will fit before ya get it.

One bad experience doesn't make a whole line junk. My Hedman's fit very well, seal good, even with two broken bolts on one side. The Elite series I am talking about are not the cheaply made thin flange line, but the thicker flange and tubing. I did notch the frame just a bit as one tube was just barely rubbing the frame in one spot, so I went ahead and notched it so engine movement wouldn't cause problems.

I have heard during my reasearch that several brands, Hooker included, make some cheapies, and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Don't be afraid of the Hedmans, if you go with a better line like I recomend the Elites. The quality is excellent. I can not speak for the Hookers since I have never had them, but many guys swear Hookers are junk, so there ya go.

Good luck...

Hooker or Hedman Headers?

I've never owned a set of Hookers but I have had good luck with my Hedmans. They've been on my '78 4X4 w/400 for about 7 years and I've had no leaks or anything. I would have to vote against the cherry bombs though. Anything sounds better than those old things(just my opinion).
