I'm having some trouble locating headers that will fit my truck and hope some of you might have some insight. I have an existing set on there that need to be replaced, with the passenger side being the issue. The current set has the front 2 pipes routed down pretty much under the 2nd exhaust port and the back two go down between the 3rd and 4th port with everything collecting underneath. The engine mount (from what I've been told) is "reversed" such that it is between the 2nd and 3rd ports. Every set I've found so far seems to have the tubes collected at this point and thus will not fit. When calling to find out what will fit, I have been told by several companies (Hooker, Hedman) that they do not make any header to fit a "highboy" and this is my problem.
So, and I limited to either a custom wealded header set or stock exhause, or is there something else out there that will fit?
Got mine from Stan at Stan's Headers (www.stans-headers.com) for my 68 Highboy and they're great! Thick flanges, ceramic coated, and cleared everything without a problem. Only thing is that the passenger side will have to come off when changing the starter.... somewhat of a pain, but not as bad as some other headers I've dealt with.
I had a set of Heddman headers on my 68 F250 highboy... seems strange that they dont make em anymore. I think if you call for a set of headers for any FE powered 67-72 and 73-77 F250 4x4... they will fit your truck as they are ALL highboys... probably threw off the guy you called when you said "highboy"... if parts store dummies dont see the word highboy in the catalog... they dont have the part. They overlook the rest of the 4x4 listing looking for "highboy". Gotta remember... these trucks are 25-35 + years old now and the parts store weenies for the most part, are teenie boppers born in the 80's or later..... They dont have a clue...
I just looked in some of my books... Gibson shows a listing for all 67-76 F250 4x4's and the same part number shows up for the F100 4x4's as well for the same years. I cant find my heddman book or I'd give ya a part number... I'll look for it and post it when I find it...

Reason: Mistake
I found them! Through a post on the Engine forum....it's the Dynomax Blackjack 85066 headers...Jegs actually lists them as "standard headers" for 65-76 250 and 350 p/u's.......the tech guy at Dynomax said, "We don't make no headers fer da highboys..." I guess I'll need to call them back and inform them about their products!
If you have O Reillys/ Bumper to Bumper there.... I found the Heddman part numbers in their 2006 catalog. If yours is a 65-76 F250 4x4, it's part number 89120 for Black, #89126 for Hi Temp Coated & #89830 For Elite Series. F100 4x4's from 69-77 use part #89180 ( Black) and 89186 for Hi Tem Coated. I dont know why they start the F100 at the 69 model year.... 67 and 68 should be the same as the rest of 'em.... dunno! All these numbers are 1 3/4" tube and 3" collector size. They show it fitting 352-390 but they will fit a 428 as well.... as I mentioned earlier, I had a set on my 68 428 F250 4x4, wish I still had that truck.... the ex got it along with the ranch in the divorce....It was unfortunatly plated as a farm truck and she got "the farm".
The first set I ordered from Jegs was the 89120...and those DO NOT FIT. the 85066 has the 1st two tubes running forward and the back 2 running back, leaving an open space in the middle for the motor mount. the 89120's bundle all 4 pipes together exactly where the mount is located.
Hmmmmm back to square one... Well something musta changed over the years at Heddman.... they fit on mine... last time I saw my old truck about 5 years ago in a store parking lot it still had em on it... even still has the little Heddman sticker in the back window... I'm surprised she has kept it running all this time... probably new BF has some wrenching ability....
I am running a high pinion front end in my truck so ALL regular headers don't fit, they hit the driveine. The ones I am running now are Sanderson shorties and they work fine. Hope this helps. Oh I don' have to pull them off to change the starter either. Doug
I just installed a set of headman fenderwell headers part# 89366 you need to trim a small piece off the pass side inner fenderwell otherwise they fit right in.
Check out sanderson I just installed a pair of shortys on my 4x4 ,dropped right in place. Passenger side all 4 pipes between motor mount and stater. Pipes 1.5/8'..I'm still running my front sway bar to. They don't use any gaskets just RTV high temp sealer. A little close too the end of starter. But these pipes run a lot cooler than uncoated ones. I put in a heat shield cloth any way. No problems of leakage yet.. my 2cents
