Does this sound right? I had to have a full set of ball joints replaced at 40,000 km/25,000 miles and again at 70,000km/44,000 miles.
My truck is an 03 F250, V10.
As you can see, it is very low mileage, used mostly as a daily driver. In the summer months I pull a 30' 5th wheel with a GVWR at roughly 9600 lbs.
All service work has been done at the Ford dealership. When I raised my concern with the service manager, he was very non-committal but said he would talk to a Ford rep.
If this is normal, at $1000.00 per repair, sadly, I'm afraid I can't afford to drive a Ford.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm feeling your pain. My first set were replaced at 18,000 mi. and I now have 45,000 and they need to be replaced again. Mine has a lift and oversize tires though. At least that is what I was attributing the rapid wear of mine. I thought most guys with stock suspension and tires were going 50,000 mi or so. Maybe they aren't checking them or servicing thier trucks though.

I agree, if its out of warranty go elswhere. Les Shwab quoted me approx 600 bucks to do mine.

I started another ball joint thread several days ago...https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ll-joints.html
and in that thread it was stated that Moog has a lifetime warranty. I have not been able to find any ball joint manufacturer on the web that states any warranty other than this "Moog warranties their parts and products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase."
I would love a million lifetime warranty at this point, but I do not think it exists. I am going to run the Moog's this time around and see how long they last compared to the factory parts. If they do not hold up substantially better I will give the Dynatracs a try when they come out. I spoke with Dynatrac and their ball joints are not available for another couple of months. Dynatracs are gonna be pricey (250.00 a side) but they are rebuildable so you won't have to buy them again. Hmmm.....I wonder how much they are gonna charge for a rebuild kit?.....might be a wash.....? I'll give them another call.
Any way the short answer is....................yes this is 'normal'.

guys, I was told these had a 1 million mile warranty..." XRF reduced Friction chassis parts, K 80026 was one of the part #'S for the upper or lower, I'm not sure as i only kept one empty box with my receipt.. this in in Canada, vancouver area,& I was told they were better than moog... Who knows,I hope they last. My brother works for Ryder , he replaces the oem ball joints every 40000 km(25k miles ) on spec. They have to use OEM parts, as they deal with leased trucks.

Thanks for all the info.
To all my friends south of the border, the $1000.00 repair bill may seem even steeper, but this is in Canadian costs (Ontario).
I thought I was doing a good thing by staying with the dealer and using factory parts; apparently this isn't the case. I will be looking for a good aftermarket next time.
There not especially hard to do, and if it's 4wd and you use the 4wd a lot it's probably time around 40,000 miles for a clean and grease, maybe new joints. I got 100,000 out of my first set, and getting close to 100,000 on my second greaseable set and just got tires and an alignment and all is good. But us lowly 2WD guys don't put the pressure on those joints like you 4wd guys do, especially the lifted ones with the BIG tires.
