I think its time for my tow beast to get some new mirrors so I can see my trailer when I am backing up. I want to do the install myself. I would like to do somthing simi simple but also have the mirrors be fully automatic ajustable( telescoping and mirror ajustment) My X has the stock mirrors with the red arrow turn signal in them…how hard is it to install telescopic mirrors for towing? How do I start to take them apart? Will I be able to set them up for adjustment from inside the X off the stock toggle switch? Any brands I should really look at, OEM, Aftermarket?? Any info will help.
I Bought Aftermarket Mirrors From Koolvue Mirrors. They Look Oem, However, Cost Half. Make Sure They Send You The Wiring Connector When Ordering. Extremely Easy To Bolt On, Actually A Direct Bolt On. All You Have To Do Is Remove The Door Panel So You Can Disconnect The Factory Mirror Connector And Remove The Black Factory Trim Piece On The Door By The "a" Post. Shouldn't Take More Than A Half Hour.
What year is your X? I just replaced my stock towing mirrors with the newer "factory chrome/lighted" tow mirrors. for me it was a direct bolt and plug in. the only wire I had to run was for the running light.
but also have the mirrors be fully automatic adjustable( telescoping and mirror adjustment)
If you want automatic or powered telescoping feature you have to go with 08 mirrors. You'll also have to wire a switch to power the telescoping feature.
Otherwise, the telescoping feature is manual.
I highly suggest the 08 mirrors anyway. They are far superior to the 99-07 towing mirrors. I removed my towing mirrors and replaced with 08's with marker & signal but manual fold & telescope.
