A good stroker kit?

Hey everyone, i am wanting to build up a 351c with 2v heads i am wanting about 325 hp with at least that much torque. I have 4v intake and exhaust for the motor. I would like to know a good quality stroker kit, good cam to use with this motor would be with that target power that I stated above. The motor will have a 600cfm carter carb, a C6 with a 9incher with 3.50 gears and posi. It will be going in a 3600lb 82' f-150 flareside truck. Two words: zoom zoom

with a cleveland you should be making that much power stock. check with coast performance if you still want a stroker kit, they have good kits. also Probe Industries has good kits.

I agree that you should be able to get the horsepower you want pretty easily from the semi-stock engine. I do have one point to make though. The 351C is a heavy breather. A 600 may not be the best carb for what you want. I would go with a 750 vacuum secondary, on a dual plane intake. To keep your peak torque and horsepower being made at a reasonable RPM, I would chose a cam with no more then 218 degrees at .050", and right around .500" gross lift. This will keep your power band between 1,500 and 4,500 RPM's. I would use a good set of headers and a free flowing exhaust too. You would be very happy on the street with this setup. This is only a general description of what you need. There are many people on this board who know much more about the Cleveland engine then I do, and could probably suggest specific parts for you.

A good stroker kit?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-May-02 AT 11:13 PM (EST)]mustange70,
as was said earlier the clevland in stock form should put out close to 320 hp but if you want more you can opt for pistons a good cam and head work, that is the clevlands achilles heel is the heads on a 2v motor have a good port size for the street but you will need a bigger set of valves SS of course a good port and polish job and you will have to work on the rocker arms the factory rocker set up is not good for any lift in your camshaft you must have the rocker arm pedestals machined and install adjustable rocker arms and guide plates most machine shops know what to do and you should be able to get aprox. 450 hp out of the clevland. if you want to get to the 6500 rpm range I would recommend solid lifters also I have not heard of to many clevlands living well with stroker kits .

A good stroker kit?

Look in the Comp Cams catalogue, I suggest an Xtreme Energy cam, I recently put an XE 250 in my 302 powered F100, and I couldn't be happier with the amazing low end torque I get. I also used Windsor Jr. heads, and a bunch of othere top of the line bolt on goodies. Basically, I'm entirely aftermarket save the reciprocating assembly and block. I make 378 ft*lbs, and 330 HP, you should easily be able kick my tail with that 351, even though I'm swapping for 3.55's next week. I aslo have to get an MSD Distributor, or a Mallory Unilite, or anything that I can adjust to give me decent advance, preferably at 2500 RPM. right now, it starts misfiring at 1500, just begging for advance. You're on the right track with that 351, but I'll admit, like Steve, I'm a little vague on my Cleveland knowledge.

Happy Wrenching,

A good stroker kit?

Say i was to use a different motor, I have a couple 460's, 400's, 351w's, 351m's, 351c (as mention above), a couple of 302's and one 289, an industrial 429 4v (out of a grain truck with low miles and never abused), and a 512 i think(out of another grain truck but the crank is cracked and it needs a rebuild) The two grain truck motors are highly unlikely but a posibility(and i could probably find another in the local junkyard) which one do you guys tthink would be the cheapest to get that much the power i want while keeping the price between $2000-$3000?

p.s. My dad had a 351w built (350 horse and lots more torque than built) for $3000(thats in canadian and built at a local shop)

If mileage is no concern, and you want streetable horsepower and torque, go with the 429 or the 460. Whichever has the better bore, crank, rods, etc. What do you have for transmissions?

HI think that I will most likely stay with the 351clevo, and if I do i will try to custom plumb some t-bird turbos for the motors, it wouls be cheaper and i know where i can get two matching turbos.
