Does anyone know what would be involved in adding interval wipers to a truck that did not come with them. Surely it would be more involved than simply installing a new interval wiper switch. Are the motors different or is all in the switch? I don't wanna put one of those aftermarket reostat type ones on. thanks macs
Ok I saw that on the diagram I was able to get a look at but could not tell if it was part of the switch or not. So if I go to the bone yard and remove the switch and the box behind it
it should then plug into my harness? I will remove a section of the donor harness if needed. macs
Cool, if it ever gets nice outside again I'll go fishing for one. I've had this truck for 24 years, and it never bothered me before, but of course I lived in sunny So. Cal for 20 of them and didn't use them much but now that I live where it averages 36" of rain a year I use them a little more, but now that I have to wear a seat belt all the time its a pain in the butt to reach for the wiper switch all the time as the dang seat belt locks whenever I hit a pot hole and if I try to avoid them I get pulled over for drunk driving!such is life macs.
When you go to the yard, take some wire cutters, as occasionally you'll find the modules zip tied to the factory wire bundle. And maybe a small screwdriver to lift up the tab on the clips at the connections. When I put mine in, the module box just sorta fit into a spot behind/under the dash.
(IMPORTANT) Mine had a ground wire that I had to replace the end on where it secured to the chassis under the dash. Trust me, this will **not** work if it's not connected!
Another good mod is to find a truck with the digital clock/date-keeper/stopwatch and matching radio bezel. It's also a truly plug and play with your factory plug down and to the right of your HVAC controls. Actually even easier to remove than the delay wiper modules. Just be sure to get the harness that goes from the clock to the plug near the bottom of the dash.
Hope these posts helps ya and let us know what ya got!!

Some trucks are hard wired for the clock and do not have the pigtail that connects down by the HVAC control.
Also, most radio bezels that have the clock cutout are woodgrain, so you may have to change your cluster bezel too if you have the black/gray waffle weave.
They do make the waffle weave with the cutouts too, but they only made it for radios with two shafts instead of DIN and they are nearly impossible to find.
The engineering number on the apropriate Black Weave radio bezels stosh mentions is as follows.
1980-1981: E0TB-10045A98A: No Clock Custom Radio Delete (rare)
1980-1981: E0TB-10045A98B: Clock Custom with radio (rare)
1980-1981: E0TB-10045A98C: No Clock Custom with radio
The Clocks are also different.
1980-1982
1983-1986
You need to get the correct clock for the correct year, or you will need to modify and rewire wiring as stosh mentions.
On 1980-1983 trucks, You can also get the underdash light harness, ash tray light, glove box lamp, and the Headlamp Warning Buzzer out of the truck as well. Plug and play.
1980-1982: Uses same harness.
1983 uses specific harness, designed only for 1983.
