I know that DK doesn't add as much lubricity as others do (can't tell you about gelling, San Diego doesn't have much of a problem with gelling in winter), but when I can get it at Wal-Mart it's just so darned convenient...
SoCal doesn't have much for catering to the diesel crowd. Heck, the nearest truck stop is 90 miles away from me!
Hard to say if they would have any reasons to skew the findings....the Opti-Lube XPD and the 2% Bio weren't "blind".
I've read from the Opti-Lube XPD users that they love the stuff....but it's also the most expensive at $4.35 per tank.
Schaeffer's DT2000 is rated #6 for lubricity, 2% Bio is rated #1 which can be achieved using Schaeffer's Premium Soy Sheild in regular diesel.
I normally fill with Bio Blends anyway, so I'm ahead of the game there and the Schaeffer's rated above the Power Service that I currently use at approx. the same cost per tank and is bio-diesel compatible.
I would look more into specifics of the Opti-Lube since the study doesn't list them as Bio-Diesel compatible.....but my browser doesn't like their site and stops responding every time I try and go to it. If it's not bio-diesel compatible, it's automatically not an option since I use B5-B20.
I am not an expert in this field in any way shape or form.....just what I think the best additive for my trucks for the money being a regular multiple PSD owner

Can a tank full of B99 be used to clean your tank and fuel system? DO you need to do anything special to run B99 or for that matter any issues with B20? I am VERY new to anything Bio since not much to be found out here.
I've never used anything over B20. Haven't had any issues. Of course I change the fuel filters every 10-15k.
I've read people recommend to change the fuel filter after the first tank of B99/B100 and then every 5-7k after that if you run it on a regular basis (at least these were the recommendations with the 6.0 ).
I ran full bio for a while until my trucks pickup tower in the fuel tank clogged because of the junk getting dislodged. That ended my BioD usage, oh and the fact nobody around here carries Bio. I use stanadyne, howes meaner power cleaner, and howes fuel treat. Power cleaner gives a decent power kick, stanadyne smells funny, and fuel treat keeps me from making diesel ice cubes.... haha thats all i know
Lubricity is probably one of the biggest factors I'm looking for. I never really want to make crazy amounts of power with my truck. My goal is to be driving this truck with its current power plant when it rolls 350,000 miles so longevity is what I'm looking for since the study there shows that the ULSD fuel we're getting today is total poop. (Don't want to get this thread moved to GNA.... so I don't know if I can say c**p)
what kind of two smoke oil are you all adding to your tanks, i have been putting in atf so far but i get a really good discount at the motorcycle shop that might make it cheeper. the reason i am using atf is one of our school bus companies was saying that he has been putting that in the buses since ulsd came out, i cant remember the last time i put an injector in one of their buses, a few of the other companies havent been so lucky.
