I have a 2001 F350, it has 220,000 or so miles on it and I just grabbed a new superchip for it. When I plugged it in to the port above the gas pedal the display in the chip would not come on, it has yet to do anything and am wondering if anyone has gone through this or if there could be something wrong with my truck. Any news would be great, thanks!
Thanks guys everything worked out perfect! One other question, we bought this truck new and it it now has 220,000 miles on it. It still runs excelent, nevertheless it definitley does not have the umph it used to have. If I was to do a full tune up, what would be my primary replacement parts? Any information or tips would be perfect. Thanks again for all of your help.
Try running a good strong dose of additive and see if that gives you a shot in the pants. Check your intercooler boots and make sure they are tight. 220 isnt a big deal on these, if maintained, so do the basic fuel filter, oil change, boot check and see if that feels better. Check your turbo wheel and make sure it isnt dusted, make sure it's nice and shiny, no nicks or dings. Does any of this help or have you heard all this before?
Oh yeah, I dont recognize your user name so welcome to FTE!! glad to have you aboard!
At 220000 I would say he probably needs new ones as soft as they can get. As stated these fellers will last for ever if maintained. Get you some gauges to keep an eye on everything think about switching to a 5W40 synthetic oil like Schaeffers or Rotella it really helps these trucks out. Have your truck hooked up to a diagnostic machine and see what kind of oil pressure your HPOP us putting out with that many miles it could be getting tired. Last but not least I will say it. Think about selling your superchips and getting custom tuning from Tony WIldman ( www.totaldieselperformance.com or DP Tuner (w www.dp-tuner.com )
