Vacuum Advance Question

Shouldn't the distributor vacuum advance line in this photo be connected to where the red cap right behind the primary float bowl is now?

Thats the vacuum hose for the trans. The vacuum advance should go where the red cap is, and the trans vacuum should go where the vacuum advance is currently. Thats what we were thinking at least.

Yep, the vacuum advance needs to be hooked to the red plug (ported vacuum on metering block) after the initial timing is reset with no vacuum attached to the advance.
It's definitely going to have pinging issues and possibly hard to start hot issues.
As for the choke, I would use a thin metal rod and lock it on the cable holder on the vacuum pod and connect it to the choke lever. Much cleaner insulation.

Just curious. What is the engine in and what do you know about it? I remember some wicked 6 bangers years ago. With that Offy manifold, headers, and 4 bbl. someone has done some work.

It's in a '58 1/2 ton. It's got roller rockers and an other than stock grind on the cam but that's about all I know..

Inline 6's are sweet to build up. Just like the old Datsun Z's everyone drove in college , and those dyno queen Supras and stuff.
