I've been having problems with my Speedo, Cruise Control, and my ABS.
I replaced the ABS Sensor on the rear diff. that fixed my brakes and my ABS. My brakes ain't so spongy any more and the old sensor, was impaled with metal shrapnel.
But the speedo is still jumpy and my cruise control is unsteady. Can't even use it.
my truck did the same thing and a guy told me it was the cluster.i had to unplug my abs and spped sensor just to get my truck to run.it kept trying to die when i took off,it took me forever to figure it out.mine started the same way yours did jumping speedo and abs problems
Sounds like VSS problems, but you may need to re set the computer too.
When I replace any sensors on my vehicles, I disconnect the negative battery cable for ten minutes.
After reconnecting the battery, I take the truck for a relearn drive.
You may have a problem with the exciter ring in the diff. However johnson93gt may be right, Do a search of this forum for "PSOM" and see what you think. Good luck.
I just pulled the whole rear-end and re-built it, I remember that Ring not really being that tight. I could move it when I was trying to rotate the assembly. That could throw off both the speed Sensor and the Cruise.
