Here's my truck:
1999 F-250 super duty, extended cab, 4WD, automatic, 5.4 gasoline engine with 117,000 miles and a small crack in the lower portion of the windsheild.
Here's what's happening:
Crusing down the e-way about a week ago, My ABS light comes on and then the speedo starts jumping +/- 30 mph or so. Turn the truck off and it seems to reset its self. Start crusing again, same thing happens. The truck sat for a week. Drove it around town, no problem. Hit the e-way again.........ABS light pops on, speedo starts jumping around again. When the speedo jumps it'll shut of the cruise control, but the tach is steady as can be. It doesn't jump or twitch. When I got off the e-way and was driving around 35 - 40 mph, the speedo was still jumping around.
Turn the truck off, No ABS light. No speedo jump.......................for a while and then "poof"...ABS light on, speedo jumping?
I read about the VSS but I'm not sure that's my problem.
Does the ABS sensor and speedo sensor have anything in common??
I'll get it replaced this weekend. I'm assuming I can pick this up at my local parts store correct? Do I ask them for a VSS sensor or ABS sensor or a VSS/ABS sensor or just take the old one in and say "give me one of these"?
