I'm planning on putting on dunlop 285/ 75 R 16 D OWL on my new superduty. The size translates to just a hair of 33". I'd like to put them on the factory wheels. Anybody know the width of the deluxe wheels?

Has anyone else put bigger tires on the factory rims, if so what size brand?

I've been told 33" is the max the superduty will take without a lift kit. True/False?

Thanks,
Don

my guess is that they are 7" maybe 8"

You could put 35's on but you couldn't turn your wheels.

The wheels would still turn, but only in a forward or reverse direction.

Look on the drivers door or door post. The wheel size will be listed there.

The Deluxe and Premium wheels are 7 inches wide. I put a set of Premiums my new XLT, along with LT265/75/16 BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires. These are the widest tires that will fit on a 7 inch wheel.

Don,
Once you mount the tires on your factory wheels you will find they will be closer to 32 inches. Actually you can easily put 33's under the fenders without touching even under compression. I wouldn't go any bigger without a lift though. A friend of mine owns a tire store and he had 33's before he lifted and went to 36's. I have a F350 crew long bed with the original rims and I am running the BFG AT in 285 75r16. I have 14k on them and 6k was pulling a 9000 lb trailer to Alaska from AZ. I've never had problems with the tires.

I just got a 99 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 short bed, Yesterday I went to the local 4x4 shop and they told me that you can use the stck rims and put a 305-70-16 tire made only by goodyear on with no problems, I ordered the MT's yesterday.
I will let you know when I get them on.
