Just put on BFG AT'S KO, 31's. truck looks great. The only problem that I have is that I rub on the arm(not sure of proper name) that comes back from axle to the frame when turning as sharp as I can. Any suggestions as to what to do? I have heard that you can adjust the stops, Is this easy to do? Millage is down slightly, 230 miles on full tank, now about 215. 92 f150 4x4 xlt. thanks
actually, the part you're tryin' to describe is a radius arm! i think the stops are built into the steer box as well as the spindle, but not adjustable(open for debate). What I do know is that if you would 've mounted those tires on aftermarket rims that had one step more of offset,it wouldn't rub.I know that cause they don't even rub on my 2wd with 31's! Look into some rims. Sears has some good deals!

i just got the same tires, same size, put on and have the same problem! yeah.. on mine.. (4x2), the turning stops are cast into the spindles, so i suppose you could weld some shims or some such madness to the spindle to decrease the turning travel, or i've seen wheel spacers that increase offset without getting new rims. you just bolt em on between the rotor and rim, and viola! an extra quarter inch of offset. of course theyre just metal discs with some holes drilled in em, so you could almost make yer own, instead of paying 10 bucks eack at the parts store.
You either need the offset rims, or if you are interested in getting a lift on the truck, most kits will come with new radius arms equipped to handle the larger tires.
About your millage, you must concider that the stock tires (235/75 R15 (28 inch tall)) have to spin about 758 times to move you a mille, and the 31's just need 647,and what your odometer count are the times the tire spins , then you may be geting even better millage with your new tires.

Sometimes a lift don't help. I have 31X10.5X15 T/A's on 15X8" rims on a 94 F150 2WD that didn't rub till I had a lift put on. I have a 4" Cepek lift with the longer radius arms. Everything was fine till the lift, after lift tires rub on arms. I told the Cepek dealer and he said I had to live with it. Before I purchased this lift I researched all the info and according to the fact sheet my tires/wheels shouldn't rub. But once they get your 1500.00 it's your problem or you can pay to have it removed. Now I am forced to get rims with different offset or the spacers previously mentioned. Go with the spacers, they are a whole lot cheaper.
I have an '89 f150 2x4 with 31" Allterrians on it. i do not have a lift kit either, and there is no scraping in my wheel well. why would a lift do this to your truck??
There's a threaded hole about 7/16" (fine thread pitch) in diameter that you can put a bolt in to prevent the tire from hitting the radius arm when you turn. It is very easy to do and is easy to undo. The hole is located just below the brake caliper.
P.S. No cutting or welding is required. On
Ranger's you need to weld spacers, but on
F-150's there's a hole
