powerstroke problems

i have a 1997 f-350 powerstroke that is giving cyl/contribution codes but does not stick to the same cylenders when you run the test. i put 8 injectors in and still did not fix problem. it is missing at idle but not bad. when started up and reved up it stops at 2000 rpm and blows white smoke. smells like raw diesel. then clears out. when engin is hot it does not do it as bad. jason 832-647-3765

so even after 8 new injectors it still throws cylinder codes? it will give you any code at random?

are you running a cylinder contribution test or are these stored codes? what kind of scanner are you using?

what brand injectors did you use for the replacements? new or used?

What color is your Cam Sensor? If its gray you should order a Black sensor from Dp-Tuner and see if that helps.

Have you verified fuel pressures and ICP pressures are good? Also I would try a good CPS.
You can get one here
DP-Tuner

Or if you have a Navistar part counter near you you can get the same CPS there
The part number is 1821720C99

Might try a compression check through the glow plug holes. There may be a few that are borderline. Your lookin' for 400psi.

Might clean the fuel pressure regulator screen. Check fuel pressure on the side of the regulator with a tire psi gauge that goes to at least 80psi. Should see at least 55psi at idle.

compression is 450 on cylenders. i will check pressure with a tire gauge on schrader vaulve while at idle and get back to yall. where is the fule pressure regulator screen. if fule pressure was bad wouldnt it starve for fule going from 60 to 75 mph? it does not jump or stall when i do that it has good pick up. hell i dont know.

that sounds a bit low but the tire gauge is a crude way to check it. they are desinged for air not diesel...lol.

how about some pid data, what is the icp at idle, and what is the ipr duty cycle?

here is a dumb question, and not to sound smart, but do you have the injector wires plugged into the correct injectors?

Crude method or not, 25 - 30 psi too low. Sounds like it's time to shim the FPR and clean the screen.

Check the items Joe mentioned, too.
