I've done the perfunctory search and haven't found my answer. Anyone have a transporter they would recommend to pick up my "new" 2003 F-250 in Florida, dropping off in Iowa? I have many, many quotes, ranging from $650 - $1,250 from Select1, which I found on this site.
Anyone with experience with Worldwide Auto Transporters out of Florida?
I just want to make sure I'm getting a reputable company. Personal experience trumps all reviews I've found on the net. The truck is ready for pickup and I'm anxious to get it home!
Worldwide Auto Transporters are a broker operation. Get them to fax a copy of the insurance and bond of the carrier they assign your truck to for your peace of mind. http://www.worldwideautotransport.net/whyus.html
Like shorebird pointed out, many of these companies are just brokers and you have to be real careful with them. The service you get could be anywhere from great to horrible...
Select 1 is a reputable company and they are a trusted transporter for the auto manufacturers. Another reputable company is Reliable Carriers (link below) and they have facilities in Orlando...
Hey thanks guys, I really appreciate the insight. I just received a quote from Reliable coincidently...$1,750, enclosed. A little mor ethan I wanted to spend. We'll see. I'll see if Worldwide will fax me the info you guys suggest. Is this common, meaning will they comply? If not, should I go elsewhere?
$1750 for enclosed from Reliable is about right. I am not sure if you asked for enclosed or not, but they offer open car service as well and it should be much cheaper. Enclosed service is usually reserved for high end customers and auto manufacturers that do not want things to be seen that should not...
Thank you Powerstroke, their quote is $1,495 open carrier. Still a little rich. Most of the carriers/brokers have the BBB sign on their quotes...I'll check that as well. Thank you!
Bobby, from Middleburg, Fl to Iowa City, IA. Some of the quotes are still comin in. I'm trying to find a local transporter with extra room on a truck that is coming back from Fl. No luck yet, but I would think there has to be one...just a matter of timing. The truck is located only about 1.5 hours from Mannheim.
Bobby, I tried getting into the forum you sent me, but it won't let me in...I'm still a newb!
Where in the far west burbs of Chicago? A very good friend lives in Naperville.
That's not really a viable option...as fun as that would be. The time away from my office will cost me way more than the cost of transporting the vehicle. Yes, sight unseen, but with a pre purchase inspection. It was a non-construction, highway driver. Surprisingly very clean inside and out.
I hope you don't get screwed with that deal out of Middleburg. I live about 15 miles away and grew up with alot of folks down there. Those boys know how to beat on some trucks for sure!
