i have always used ford fluid or... crap, brain fart.... its in a white bottle with green and red stripes on it. comes with the ls additive in it. i want to say castrol but i dont think thats it.
Yes if you can find the right size o-ring to replace it do it but if it looks intact it should be ok. I use royal purple for diff but in a resent study it didn't fair too well so I might be changing it in the near future.
what should i use as lube? royal purple is what i just priced at orielly at $15/qt.
use lucas? its got something out of a semi garege barrell that is what they use in semis. its same weight, and has additive from ford in it. i didnt loose alot of fluid, i have 1/2 qt of motorcraft, so maybe just top it off?
but seriously thanks guys for all the help. i did it just before lunch and got it done just in time for supper. it wasnt a bad fix at all, it took as long to fix a couple broke lugs on the opposite side as it did to fix the real problem
yes, at first i about had a heart attack, but then when i found out how simple it was, man was i thankful! did not even have to drill and tap any of the old bolts to get em out!
