opening up baldwin coolant filter
Hey guys, I've seen some of you get your coolant filter out of the actual red case and I'm wondering how you did it? I took a screw driver to it real quick only to find out it's gonna take a little bit more. What did you guys do? Thanks.

A saw works or a filter cutter. For anyone that races you usually cut the engine filters each week and inspect them. A saw will leave small portions of metal behind. Summit or Jegs offers filter cutters if you choose to be critical.
When changing oil it is a good practice to look through the filter before discarding to see if you may be developing a problem. Since the 6.0L is a cartridge filter it makes the job easy.
