Coolant filter questions

Just went to napa to get oil and walked out with a coolant filter and base. Wondering where you guys put it and where did you tie in? Pics please!

I'm no help, but since I have this on my to do list too, I am subscribing. What did the filter and base cost you? Make us up a materials list and show the costs if you could. I've been eying the dieselsite.com kit, but I am sure that you can put together your own kit a lot more economically.

When I do mine I'm building a braket that will mount to the Alt. bolts and tie into the heater hose

I haven't bought any hose yet, but the base was 40 and the filter 12. I got the non additive filter as my SCA is already at the proper level.

I was looking at how guzzles site did it, just looking to see how anyone with an OBS did it.

For a long time both the ATF and coolant filters were on an angle iron bracket bolted to the alternator mount.

Once the intercooler was installed the filter found a new home over where the jack used to be.

There's also room to mount it on the drivers side fender.

Thanks Rodney. I don't have my jack under the hood either and that is where I was thinking about putting it. So you just tied into the heater lines?

I think I'm awake now, how's this? Over the top is my water injection hose, on the right side is the line for a coolant gauge and behind it are my steel braided electric fuel lines.

Thanks Glenn. Where did you tie into? On the guzzles site, the inlet comes from the side of the water pump. It looks like Rodney tied into the heater lines. Just trying to get some ideas.

Also, the Napa vague instructions talked about putting in shutoff valves for the inlet and outlet for less of a mess when changing filters. Anyone do this or you just wait till the system isn't under pressure to change?

When I re-do my cooling system, a filter is going in.

Should throw in a bypass too while I'm at it.

Need to get a radiator first though.
