It was a long long night for me and my neighbor it was longer for them their house which is real close to mine burnt down last night had 3 volunteer fire departments here trying to get it under control and out. They did not get it out till 2 am it had started about the time I got home around 5 pm they were not home and me and another neighbor broke the door down to get their dog and cat out. Looks like they lost everything it is just a sad sad way to start off a new year.

I am glad no one got hurt, and can only say my prayers are with your neighbors. We had a neighbors house burn down across the street from us some years back, and I remember it was a long, hard, road for them to get back on their feet.

Man, that really sucks Tracy. My neighbors last a lot of their place last month. They're just now finishing up getting it in move-back-in shape. I think they got power back on last week since I saw them pumping out their very green pool. The chitty part is that it looks like the the fire was on the second floor, so it had fire & smoke damage, and the first floor likely had lots of water damage. I saw very large dumpster full of drywall & insulation get hauled out of there, so I think they have basically a completely remodeled place now. We weren't real close, so I don't know them that well. They have the exact same model of house as I do though, so I'd like to know what happened.

Damn Tracy.. I hate to hear that..It is never a good time to loose your house..My sister lost hers to a fire.. it worked out,,My Brother in law gutted everything and layed out the house in a totally different way. The house turned out great.. but that loss.. there is nothing that can be done.. it just sucks.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor Tracy, hopefully insurance will take care of them. Good job saving the dog

Thanks guys I know they will appreciate the prayers and well wishes. The house was built in the early 1900's I actually look at buying it before buying mine. It was old but back then they used hard wood the owners who had it before them added onto the house the fire fighters said they just lowered the ceilings in the old house by making a new one and not getting rid of the old one causing about a foot and a half cap between the two and made it impossible for them to fight it till either the roof gave way or the first ceiling. My neighbor Mike was mostly okay he was just glad no one was home there son was staying with some one so he was safe. His wife was pretty upset her dad had made them a grand father clock and a chest well he past on earlier this year and those were some of the only things she had from him. I went out this morning and it is a total loss. As I said before I am just glad they were okay material stuff is replaceable people and animals are not.

What a horrible way to start off the new year. Is there anything that we can do to help out? Care packages or something?

Right now I don't really know they are staying with some friends we offered them to stay with us but I think they wanted to be far away from it. Mike said last night that they had good insurance so we will see.

head hurting....ouch.....groan............

Just kidding, I'm good to go! Gonna wash the truck in the rain, then park it in the shop and clean out the inside, it's starting to smell like rain gear...yuck. Then maybe get my Ipod to hook into the truck so I can have even more tunes. Not much else going on, I have until Monday off from work. Nobody wants me remodeling the inside of there home the next few days.

EDIT- I plugged in the Ipod into the face, umm, that was easy!!!

Is this the part where I say I told ya so? I guess it wasn't to be prevented though, by the time I talked to you, you had already had one too many toddies. Did you at least have fun?

How awful, sorry to hear about this. I hope things get much better and that insurance takes care of them, and I'm glad no one was hurt.
