I meant you can't have a lifter if you do not have a pushrod. But yes you have a lash adj. which kind of acts like a lifter. My main point is - was- all of the different things that can cause the same noise, (i.e.--viper6466 comments he had camsensor replaced and that fixed the noise. I am thinking of replacing the entire engine at one time instead of one piece at a time. But honestly really kind of dishearted with the whole thing, really like the truck, But can't really afford to keep spending so much money, and can't trade or resale with the noise.
after all that work was done it ended up being just a loose spark plug...someone owes me some money! tightened down the plug started it up noise gone and you can guess about the performance check the plugs boys.
I found out what that tick is on my 04 5.4 3v 60,000 mi. The right rear cam is trashed. Parts went all over the place, To the tune of a used engine replacement. No extened warrantee. Thinking about selling, lost all confidence.
the ticking noise ur hearing is the cam phasers. everyone has these problems. they dont effect performance but its a pain in the *** cause the sound drives you nuts. if u take it to the dealer they can replace the cam phasers
