electronics/trans issues, voltage jumps

so I did some searching and came up empty....hopefully yall can help me out

Here is what is going on...

Whenever I shift from any drive gear (D, 1, 2, r) into neutral my rpms drop for a few secs but here is the new issue....
When my rpms reach around 2700-2800 my battery light comes on and and then the voltage meter jumps up way way high. Once the trans shifts everything goes back to normal....any ideas? I have no clue

Maybe a short in the mechanism that shifts the trans?

Rev it that high in neutral and see what it does. I would be looking at the Voltage regulator for the issue.

Dosn't sound like trans related from what your describing, leaning on charging and regulator system

Does it happen before the trans shifts into every gear?

well i dont ever end up with 2800rpms when I am in 3rd and 4th gear (I will see what i can do) but I know for sure that it does the light/voltage drop while in 1st and I will try it in 2nd when I run to sams tonight

Yep, check that and see if starting in 2nd and shifting to drive will cause a spike. Do you have any diffrence in your shifts? later, sooner, firmer, softer, slipping, etc.,?

so now its no longer doing it (the voltage jumps while changing gears at high rpms)

but instead it feels like it is holding onto 1st gear for a really long time and then jumping right into 3rd

the only idiot light I had flash was the battery light when I was having the voltage jumps. Now I have no volrtage jumps and no warning lights...just the strange shifting
