Hola!
Last few startups(colder up here in the great white north..not sure if related),
my truck wants to die upon startup. It kinda sputters and doesn't really seem like it want's to run, then all of a sudden it catches and all is good. I ran the self-test KOEO and got codes 63,61 & 14. After doing some reading I really am no farther ahead. I suspect that taking care of the 14 code may correct other code(s?). So I would like to address this one first as I suspect it is the culprit
I must now also add that that test was done cold and I've not let it run for 10-15 minutes, turned it off and then ran same test and this is what i now appear to be getting...111, 111, 1, 334, 628 & 634(checked it twice).
a couple seem to be tranny codes but not sure where to start now.
Among other things, I am wondering why original codes are now not present
and where do I start?
Any suggestions?
1-?
14- Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall.
61-ECT sensor is less than the Self-Test minimum of 0.2 volts.
63-TPS circuit below minimum 0.6 volts.
111-system pass
334-DPFE or EVP circuit above the closed limit of 0.67 volts.
628-Converter clutch Lock-Up error (E4OD)
634-Transmission Manual Lever Position Sensor circuit out of self test.
If it's either of the trucks in your sig, then you have 3-digit codes.

That would mean that my first test produced codes 636 & 114 and I cannot find these codes in the list from the link in the tech article in this forum.
I will keep on hunting for more input for now
fordfuelinjection.com has a pretty good description of how to read codes and what to expect.

I certainly will.....I will see if I can find a cheap reader somewhere.
The list of codes I am using is from the ffi.com site. There is a link in the self=test sticky in the tech thread at the top of this forum.
It may have to wait till morning.
Will update.
p.s
my apologies to everyone...the truck is the 94 with the 4.9
Thanks for the link EPNCSU2006
got more codes on that site for sure....
I have the next five days off, so I would like to tackle as much as possible before I get busy again, and that means the truck gets worked and not worked on....and all things considered, I'd rather be working on my truck, but that don't pay the bills.
Can I do the KOER test without a reader?....or would it even be necessary. Should I just worry about these codes first?
You can get all OBD-I codes without a reader of any sort. Just have to learn how to count the flashes of the check engine light, and the KOER test has a few inputs you have to make (brake pedal, steering wheel, O/D button, and a quick WOT).
