Depends on what you are after. If you want fuel economy, the stock 235/85/16 tires may not be cool looking, but they are a good compromise between being tall for low engine RPMs, but still narrow to have a low frontal cross section (wind drag). Also consider the higher you raise the truck off the ground, the more power and fuel it needs to hold speed. Its much more noticable at highway speeds.

Heard of using big rig tires, but its not as simple as just putting a set on. The bigger tires put more strain on the powertrain as well as brakes. If I had more time and money I might do that (along with the other needed upgrades), but I'm happy enough with the truck the way it is now. Mine only gets used as a 1/2 ton most of the time anyway.

Now if only those turbo upgrade parts would arrive......

I've had a lot of tires on different rigs and I sure as heck haven't had the bigger ones last longer.

He's talking 24.5 semi tires I guess they might last a long time because I wouldn't drive it. That would be comparable to driving a dodge.

Actually the 255 22.5s are something like 36 39" tall but what a stiff ride that would be.

I had 19.5" wheels and tires on my Dodge with steel wheels. They weighed so much the braking was severely hindered. It also rode like a buckboard. I got the most agressive tread I could find so they didn't last as long as I expected.
It sure was stable with a camper on though in combination with firestone air bags.

Yea when I crushed most of my stuff last year I kept some running gear and frame from a motorhome with 19.5 wheels and disc brake rear. also kept a light duty 5 and 4 setup
thinking I would pickup a cummins and use an old cab maybe a b model mack for a fifth wheel pulling project but I dont think I will do it now.
