Angry 03 head gaskets

My head gaskets have blown and i'm stuck with no option but to rebuild by myself . While doing so iwant to put on better parts ,so im looking for help here .I would like to know is there any after market head to replace the factory crap. im going to be rebuilding my 03 so im looking for tips if anyone has any for me . I def cannot afford the ten grand for the bill at the ford dealership . lifting the cab off the frame is a joke in itself . Ive been reading a few threads of guys who have found gouges and cracks in there factory heads . Now we spend big dollars buying these trucks and we have to find out with major expensive non warranteed or recalled problems like this . Its just plain out wrong . Ford is laughing all the way to the bank.

As for looking for an aftermarket source for heads. . . they all originate from ford, if any thing they'll offer refurbished heads with a small purk of a 3 angle valve job. I can't even find a campany willing to cnc my heads even though there identical to the to the V8 PI .

On the note of better parts, theres something you can do, not cost effective one bit but it's a big step in the right direction. manley titanium valves, retainers, and locks and some nice nextek springs from comp while your at it you might as well get the cam followers from jesel. Heli coil the spark plugs holes, some port and chamber grinding/polishing. ARP studs would be a nice touch. After a top end build like this the only thing holding you back engine wise is the cam, intake, bottom end and a sweet tune.

What are you looking to know about spicifically?

do u really think Ford is the only company with engines that eventualy blow head gaskets..

EVERY car marker on the planet can and will blow headgaskets.. it sure suks when it happens, but thinking Ford makes engines so they can blow up after warrenty is foolish..

Definitely not for the V10.

At least one or two people have reported that if you remove the radiator support, grill, and anything else in the way, it's possible to remove the V10 without pulling the cab off.

Where did you read this? I read EVERYTHING here in the V10 forum (or at least, 99%) and have never heard this before.

How did you blow your head gaskets (plural). You blew BOTH of them at the same time? Or just one side? How did it blow? Coolant into the crankcase or combustion chamber? Leaking oil out onto the block? What?

I wouldn't say they are identical to the V8 PI - the intake ports don't sound like they are any different between the PI and non-PI V10 head, and that IS something different on the V8's. So right there, anyone that knows what to do to port V8 PI heads would probably take a step back and think about it before diving right in

I didn't mean to throw the meassage across that there is NO diffrence between the non pi and pi head. I was trying to state that I can't find a cnc porting company thats willing to do the job of cncing V10 PI heads

On another note sotck pi heads have a csa of 2.37 intake/ 1.43 exhaust, mind you these aren't the CA numbers but for the guys with whipple superchargers on there V10's there leaving ALOT on the table.

Just for the record, the V10 comes out quite easily without removing the cab. Not a pleasant job, but a heck of lot easier than many, many other vehicles out there.
And if you don't want to remove the radiator support stuff, I'm pretty sure you can change either of the head gaskets with the engine remaining in the truck. Remove the fan and radiator and you even have a nice place to stand for easy access.
