Exclamation 302 Roller Camshaft

I have kinda of a stupid questions for everyone. When was the first roller cam 302 produced? And what vehicle was it in. I can assume mustang but my buddy's got a 85-86 efi 302 out of a bronco and is claiming it a roller cam motor. I just want to clarify and well prove him wrong. Any help on this would be cool. Besides that i want it to turn it into a 331 or 347 for my 76 F100. So I can leave my stock 302 in so the truck is still drivable.

Roller cams first showed up in 1985 in the 5.0 HO engines. However, not all 5.0 engines are roller cam equipped. The 5.0 in the Mustang and Lincoln Mark VII had the roller cam, the rest of the 5.0 "non-HO"engines in Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, F150/250, etc. all had the old non-HO cam.Best way to find out is pull a valve cover and measure a pushrod. If it around 6.25" you have a roller engine. If it is 6.75", you have a non-HO engine...
