I'm getting ready to build a 393 for my truck. I want to use A roller cam in this one so I have a few questions for the pro's in here. I think I want to order the comp retro kit, here's where the first question comes in. If I use this kit can I get factory roller lifters to use with an E-303 cam. Now for the next question, can I get a set of pushrods for a later 351w that came factory with the roller cam.
here's what I have planned so far.
block bored .030 over
3.85 stroke crank
stock 351w rods
hyper 302 pistons
P and P E7TE heads with 1.94I and 1.6E
stealth dual plane intake (considering single plane)
750 holley double pumper
E-303 roller cam (I think,not sure on that yet,but definetly a roller)
headers with dual 3" exhaust
comp. ratio will be close to 10
I'm shootin for 400 HP and atleast that much torque.
First thing, If your 351w was not a roller block, you need the retro kit.
2. You will need a retro cam. They are ground on a small circle.
3. A Motorsports cam will not work. large circle grind.
4 Stock roller lifters will work and you need pushrods that are 7.70" long
The lifter bores are taller on a roller block. If you don't get a retro cam the lifters come out of the block too far, and oil leaks into the lifter valley.
A Comp Cams retro cam #35-442-8 is like an x-303
if interested i have a comp cam # 35-410-8
260/533 roller cam, roller lifters, correct pushrods and the spyder and the xbars.about 10k miles on them. email me we can work out something.
