94 Explorer Starter Question
I just got done changing my wife's starter on her 94 Ford Explorer (242,000 miles on it). But I lost that red cap that goes over the big red wire that bolts on to the starter. I assume it's there to help keep the terminals form getting dirty. How important is that? Can I get by without it? Thanks.

It protects the connection from the elements but more importantly from something or someone grounding it out. That would be a big time short that could cause among other things a FIRE. Be careful working around the starter...... don't drop a wrench down there
