I have just bought a 94 F-150 XL Automatic with the 4.9L I-6. It needs help. The Truck's starter dosent disengage. It just keeps spinning until the engine dies out or gets turned off. The old starter fried just put a new one in and same thing. Any ideas???

my truck will occasionally hang up, and i have to choke it down by holding the brake in and letting the clutch out. then start it right back and its fine.
I'm almost sure this is your starter solenoid... Not much else that can cause this. Go down to your local auto parts store, they should have them for real cheap.
solenoid on the fender by the battery. That's my problem anyway. Does it every so often and I whack it with a wrench or something. Meanwhile, it's so afraid of the whack that it stops when I pull the hood release. I've got a new one, just misplaced it.
Well I had starter engage while I was driving and took a while to get it to stop so I replaced solenoid..This morning the starter stuck when I started the truck,,gave my new solenoid a whack..Could it be the starter?
Sounds like the starter relay on the inner fender.
Just for clarification, the starter solenoid is mounted on the starter, and is what pushes the starter drive gear into engagement with the flywheel ring gear. The starter relay is whats mounted on the inner fender by the battery. I know, the relay is commonly called a solenoid, even by parts suppliers, and that's partially correct, as a relay is an electrically-operated switch that uses a solenoid inside to close the contacts...
In any event, since the starter was replaced with a new one, most likely the relay is sticking on.
Its the starter solenoid switch located on the passenger inner fender
Had the same problem on my 90 f250
really easy to replace costs like 20 bucks
next time it gets stuck get out pop the hood and smack the solenoid switch with your hand or a wrench the starter should disengage.
