hi all.
Ive got a stalling problem with my 94 F150 300 I6 thats been going on for a couple weeks and the garage supossedly "fixed". heres the prob best way i can describe it; ill be drivin along and the truck will stall. it wont rev up or bog down first, itll just stall out. it doesnt seem to have any pattern as to when either. itll do it a mile down the road after its been sitting all day, itll do it on surface streets, getting on the highway(Interstate 95 travelers, I dont have to tell you how scary this is!!). I can throw it nto neutral and itll start right back up. the first time the grage "fixed" it they replaced the MAP sensor. it worked fine for a couple days then same prob. last time I brought it in, they replaced something in the dist. and replaced the rotor. worked fine till a couple days ago. im sick of bringin my truck back cause they cant find the prob.
i looked under my hood last night, and my buddy found a 13mm wrench they left on the wheelwell, and i found the old rotor behind the hood latch. thanks for the wrench, mine now. lol
so can anyone help. youve been very helpful in the past and prob saved me atleast $1000 in unessary repairs.
btw, this is the LAST time im goin to this garage.
im not sure if u need this info, but; E4OD trans, 2wd.
update,
the garage replaced the stator coil in the distributor, and also replaced the rotor. its still stalling, and since its the holidays the garage is closed. when i go back, im prob gunna tell em, fix it this time or im callin the better business buearu. im sick of this. im worried im gunna wreck cause i lose power steering when it shuts off.
This is not what you're going to want to hear... I had the exact same thing. Went on for several months. No codes, lots of new parts. My work, plus two mechanics, same result. I bought the truck for 2K and was into over 2K work. Finally had enough and sold the truck to a knowledgable mechanic who was going to rebuild the whole thing. I really wanted to know what the trouble was, made me nuts! Lost money $$$
One thing I forgot to mention. Make sure you have good new spark plugs to rule that out. Use the exact Motorcraft ones listed on the hood, after going through all this trouble, I found that the spark plugs caused some stalling too and they were burning uneven, Motorcraft burn correctly. Also, is your coil pretty new, $18 change it out clean everything off real good. Maybe this will stop your stalling, hope it's not like mine. I think computer was shot.
Does this occur when u hit a bump? And does the check engine lite come on when it stalls?Im thinkin u may have a bad relay either to fuel pump or to eec. They are cheap and easy to change
misterdave2,
that same garage that did this work told me i didnt need a tune up. last time i did a tune up was over 30,000 ago, so I think i need one. im gunna do a tune up soon anyway since its the new year.
deeznuts822,
first off, i love you name lol. second, it doesnt happen when i hit a bump that ive noticed. its happens at completely random times in completely random weather. i have noticed it happens more in the rain/snow. it could be a relay and it would be nice if it was. when it stalled yesterday, i happened to be looking at the gauges and noticed that right before it stalled the oil press gauge dropped.
