i did a search for this and came up with a few things but i was gonna ask a question about it. i have a trip to take tomorrow and since i cannot get codes read today i was gonna see if you guys had any suggestions. i had my transmission rebuilt (for the 2nd time) about 5,000 miles ago. my overdrive light has now started flashing again. the transmission seems to be shifting fine (maybe a little hard in 2nd, i may just be paranoid). when i crank the truck the light does not come on but it will come on if i rev it up a little, without even putting the transmission in gear. it continues to flash until i shut the truck down. i have a 2001 f250 with a 7.3 and an edge juice chip. any suggestions?
sorry, i thought it was two seperate issues but i guess not. i appreciate all of the help. let me give all the details on the truck just to be sure. it is a 2001 f250, 7.3, 175,000 miles, edge juice with attitude.
If there is a check engine light ALWAYS fix that problem before tackling any transmission problem. If you fix a check engine light problem a trans problem often goes away on it's own.
Transmission control indicator
light (TCIL) (4–speed automatic
transmission): when the overdrive
function of the transmission has
been turned OFF, refer to the Driving chapter. If the light flashes
steadily, have the system serviced immediately, damage to the
transmission could occur.
My o/d light is flashing right now to. When i turn the truck off and restart it stops for a while but comes back on after i drive for a while. When the light comes on the speedo seems to stop at 40 km's and will not go any further while the truck continues to accelerate. The tranny shifts exellent so i picked up a VSS at the dealer and will try it later.
