auto tranny fluid level
So this '88 B2 I just picked up is an auto - my other one is a 5-speed. I assume this is an A4LD? Is it possible to check the fluid level when it's cold and not running? If so, where should it be on the dipstick? Thanks!

It is possible, but not accurate. It will be quite a bit over the full mark when you check it cold-not running, but that alone doesn't mean the level is correct, because there is no cold level. Need to check it warmed up, run thru the gears, and then check. Cheers and Merry Christmas to all!
