4r100 fluid level check
Also has anyone tried the transmission fluid treatment the Advance Auto Parts sells called Pro-Blend Trans Cool. It claims to increase lubrication and cool the fluid up to 37 degrees and possibly doubling transmission life.

Usually level, no sloped driveway please, after a 10 minute warmup drive and you shift thru gears in a SPECIFIC sequence, usually stopping in each gear for a few seconds and then measure the level within a specific time period. Best bet is to read the manual since the methods are different for different models. Temperature and or driving time are critical.
As far as removing the fluid and then adding exactly the same amount, that is not necessarily the sure fire method. A lot depends on how much gets trapped in the torque converter, cooler, lines and valve body etc.
Best bet again is to check the manual since it will usually tell you how much fluid total capacity and how much in different kinds of drain methods. Most shops just drain the pan which will be about 1/2 to 3/4 of the fluid. Some will also drain the TC and some will do the cooler. Even if you drained them all , there would still be some in the passages of the tranny. All depends on how thorough you really want to be. Routine maintenance would be the pan and maybe the TC.
If your fluid is nice and red and smells OK(not burnt) and if it doesn't have over 30,000 miles on it then probably all you need to do is follow the specific measuring directions and if it is an inch or two high, you could suck some out thru a hose or if you have a drain plug, carefully drain some. Main thing you want to prevent is fluid blowing out the dipstick tube or excess foaming. You can see excess foam by looking at the dipstick. Shouldn't look frothy, just a few bubbles on the stick, maybe.
Good Luck,
