fonefiddy in your signature you mention velvet ride can you tell me something about this and how you like it. Plus what is a turbo bumper thanks.
Velvet Ride Spring Shackles are torsion spring loaded shackles. They make the truck ride a little softer when Your unloaded.
The Turbo Bumper is the OBS bumper with the holes in it. They started on IDI Turbo's, and Eddie Bauer Editions, in '94. Seems like there were more trucks built with them later in the production of the OBS. The bumper allows more air, direct access to the radiator. My coolant would get pretty hot on long uphill climbs. 12 psi seems to raise coolant temps pretty good
So I hunted one down, and it seems to help. The fan clutch doesn't need to kick in as soon, with the holy bumper.
If You look closely at My sig pic, you'll see the holy bumper.
Thanks My old 86 rides pretty good actually but seems like the older I get the better ride I want and I am unloaded way more than loaded.
I can definately see the concept on the bumper too.
my zf tranny does that when its cold too. I know the synchro for 2nd is bad, but i just double-clutch 2nd and it doesn't grind. dunno if the zf is supposed to have a synchronized 1st gear. if so, the synchro is out on it too. also pops out of reverse quite a bit.
it was in the truck when i bought it. just waiting on the tranny to go boom so i can put the original 4 speed back in it. maybe i'll drop a 6bt cummins with a 6 speed, or an 8.3 cummins with a 9 or 10 speed in it.
anything will fit with a cutting torch and a welder. saw a 3208 Cat motor hooked up to the E4OD tranny in a 92 f350. fenders and cowl were stretched, F550 axles under it. It could be done. All it takes is time and some physics.
