Which u joint is it? if it is the rear one, check you yoke and make sure its still tight. I have to tighten mine back up about every 2 months. Might make sure you're not over-tightening your u-joints caps. If its the ones in the middle (on a 2 piece shaft) you might check your carrier bearing. Check you driveline to make sure your slip yoke has room to slip. It might be bottoming out and that will put a side load on it.

With my 4.11 rear, I know if I drive my truck over about 70 alot, I'll have to change them out alot more often. Your are better off buying the greaseable type, than the permanently lubed ones. That way in wet weather, or if you go mudding alot, you can push the water and other junk out of them.

When you replace your joints, take a small screwdriver and clean the grooves out where the clips sit. after you get your joint and retaining clips in, smack the yoke with a 2 lb hammer so it kinda sets the u-joint. grease them really good. Make sure your yokes aren't egg-shaped either. I've seen quite a few like that.

If it didnt break the ujoint or the yoke and the yoke on the driveshaft is not damaged from when you twisted the yoke it was not properly installed.

U-Joints go to pieces when the shaft is out of balance.

I'd have the driveshaft spun, or just replace it with a known straight one.

An out of balance condition can also destroy both the input shaft bearings of the axle and the transmission output shaft.

BOTH are expensive, so it would be good to verify it.

If anyone "HIGH CENTERED" the truck (even without your knowing) it might explain it.

A bent shaft WILL BE out of balance.

Don't let stupid people drive your truck....

As with the ballance, I would Also check and make sure your driveshaft is in time if its a 2 piece. Both yokes on the end of each shaft should be the same on both ends of that shaft. If it has a slip joint, it could have possibly been slid apart and when put back togheter, it may not have been timed. Another place is where the yoke bolts through the carrier to the other driveline. It could have been bolted on without being checked for time. Check it out.

An out of time drive line, (unless perfectly stright, which yours is not from carrier to axle) it can cause bad vibration, stress on drive line and will quickly and prematurly wear out u-joints, yokes and pinion bearings, ect. Since your truck is lifted, the angle to the axle is probably very great.

This is only for a driveline with 2 shafts and a carrier, A single driveshaft should not have this problem unless assembled wrong. So again this may not apply.

I forgot about the lift on your truck you may have angle problems or spring wrap problems.

Also, Everytime I replace U-joints at work I replace the U-joint straps and bolts. Even If they were taken off so the truck could be towed, I still change the caps and bolts.

They sell what you would call a u-joint Strap kit at the parts stores. I never replace a driveline with the old caps in bolts unless I have to. Also, the new bolts should come with locktite on them or at least lock washers. If it don't, put a dabb of lock tight on them. I use red cause Im parinoide. (red is the tough lock tight)

If not properly torqued and or locktighted, they can back out and cause a major disastor on the freeway. Trust me, I have seen a few and its not pritty. Expecilly on the semis where the driveline weighs near 100lbs. You otta see one of them bad boys fly!!! You have to see it to belive it!!!

New u-joints = new Straps and bolts
Removed driveline for any reason= new straps and bolts

Its cheap and can save your ***.

What do you have for lift in the back blocks or springs with 8 inches if they didn't adjust the rear end angle you may have problems forever.
