Buzzing from the dash

Guys, I have a 2001 F150 supercrew 4x4 that just started making this buzzing noise from under the dash. It does it while driving and even after I turn the engine off. I raised the hood and puuled the cover off the fuse box and tried to determine which and where it was coming from, but couldn't. While driving the truck when it started this the lights on the dash will blink. For the life of me I haven't a clue what this is, any and all help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Arti

Is everything else working ok? Crazy things happen with these newer vehicles sometimes when something is wrong with the alternator and the voltage is a little low.

I would look under the dash around the fuse panel and you might have a module under there called the GEM that controls lots of the functions of the truck. The windshield has been known to leak, and the water runs down into the GEM and the fuse panel, and damages it.

During the next rain, see if it's wet under there.

Most of the time the truck is in the garage. This is not my daily driver as I have a company vehicle, but I do pull my boat so it has become a major inconvenience. I was thinking a relay had maybe "froze" up or something along those lines? Please help the fish are biting and I can't gooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks arti

A buzzing is usually a relay that has lost ground. Im with Franklin2. I would have it inspected for Gem/Fusebox contamination. It is real common on the F150/Expedition. Interestingly most of the ones I have seen come in with this problem recently are SuperCrew trucks. It doesnt have to be recent moisture intrusion.

The buzzing had stopped, but came back. It is now in the fuse box under the steering wheel. I tried to pull the one I thought was buzzing, but the cover broke off and it now will not come out? thanks

The windows, wipers, 4x4, domelights, and several other things are controlled by the GEM module.

After searching the internet and calling my local Ford dealership it seems that there have been a number of these trucks with this problem. The dealership recommended that I contact my insurance company and file a claim. After hurricane Ike he said that they have had a jump in the number of Fords with similar problems. I'll post back after hearing from my insurance. Later arti
