Steering Stabilizer
Steering Stabilizer
I've got a 2004 f 250 4x4 and my steering stabilizer is shot so ive got a quick question about them. Im not gonna bother with a stock one but im up in the air as to one or to go with the dual set up. Ive got 265/75-16 tires but plan on going up to a 295 or possible a 305. Any suggestions?
I have run 315's with a single setup and it worked just fine. When I get around to putting tires on my new 18's and get them on the truck I am plaining 325's for the rims I think I may go with a dual setup but I really don't think at that I would really need too..
Another for the single. The energy that is being dampened is turned to heat by the stabilizer, using dual stabilizers is a way to spread the heat created. The shouldn't dampen more or less, just work cooler under heavier use. Ideally, all they do is reduce the oscillation that wide tires bring to the steering wheels. 35's shouldn't over work a good single.
I just put one on from Fabtech couple months back and pleased with it so far. Cost around $50 through one of the sponsors here, but can't remember which one.

I like that dual setup because they are at least in line with the tie rod. My biggest complaint about the factory one. You don't have to go off road to get it hit either. But I guess it's not as common as I would think. I probably see more damaged mounts on trucks that don't have one because someone tried to jack it up.
