2001 F150 Electrical Problem
2001 F150 (4x4) with 110,000 miles. Headlight switch also controls fog lamps.
Driving to work this morning with my high beams on my headlights suddenly dimmed. The dash lights dimmed as well. Heater fan kept working. Lights came back up after a few seconds. This repeated twice more on the drive. Everything looks "normal" with ground wirtes, etc.
Anyone had this kind of problem before or have any suggestions? Thanks.
mjunk1 has a good suggestion. I would look at the wiring harness at the MFS (Multifunction Switch). It has been reported before that the wiring harness was loose or pulled away somewhat causing such a problem. By the way, the way the headlights are wired through this switch leave a bit to be desired. I recently bought a heavy duty headlight harness from LMC Truck Parts. I have yet to install it on my truck but what it does, is to uses the headlight/MFS switch to turn on relays that supplies battery voltage directly to the headlamps. Results are less wear and tear on the headlight/MFS switch and brighter headlights because of a more direct supply. Good luck!
