Well I have a Ford head unit with SAT button that is suppose to be out of an 2006 Econoline. It plugs in and works just fine in my 2000 F250. I came across a Sirius unit cheap. The cable that came with it won't come close to plugging into my head unit. What cable do I need to order? Thanks for any help.
I tried the dealer first before posting here and they had NO clue on what to get. I ended up finding a company about hour and fifteen minutes from my house that knew and had what I needed. The Ford part number is XU3F-14588-AB. Only cost $30 so I as happy.
Now I have a different problem. When I hit the SAT button it will take a few seconds and then I get the Sirius channel but then after 10 seconds it goes back over to terrestrial radio and says "SERVICE SAT" on the display. It will say this every time I hit the SAT button until I cycle the ignition then I can repeat the same steps and get the same results (isn't that a sign of madness when you now the outcome but you repeatly do it anyway?). Anyone have a clue what's wrong now?
The funny thing is if I keep switching channels it will work fine. I have it on one channel for more then 10-15 seconds that's when I'll get "SERVICE SAT" error.
Just found the problem , i did the same thing you did with the radio the sat tuner and the same cable,
and i have the same problem the signal is going away because the harness we are using was made to be install in explorer expedition center console cd changer from 1998 to 2002
not to be used on satellite system, i believe we can solve the problem if we find the schematic for this system and modified the cable
also the radio i am using came from a 2009 E series van
for some reason ford is using old style radio plugs on new vehicles
