With all that info on the tag, that points to just one thing, a Ford authorized rebuilt engine.
Now the question is....is it a 330 MD, or is it a 330 HD?
Rebuilders installed heads from one year on blocks from another year, so those date codes you posted aren't any help.
I have the Ford rebuilders parts catalog dated 1/1999, and I know from experience that all Ford rebuilt parts have a suffix that ends in an X.
So...the number on the tag should be: C4TZ-HX.
But what does this number refer to, a long block or a short block?
A long block will be C4TZ-6012-HX, a short block will be C4TZ-6009-HX.
The problem I'm having is, my authorized rebuilders parts catalog doesn't list a C4TZ-HX.
All the catalog says is, C4TZ-HX was obsoleted on 1/15/1997.
So I cannot tell you which 330 rebuilt engine you have, unless...
See if you can find a ID number on the heads, the 330 MD used different heads than the 330 HD...but of course, that's still no guarantee that that's what size the engine will be.
I can cross the head ID numbers to part numbers if they are prior to 1972, after that, I'm SOL.
EDIT: I'm gonna call someone, brb.
RE-EDIT: Crap...he doesn't have an earlier catalog (prior to 1997).
I'll try someone else...brb.
The latest: A parts manager pal of mine is gonna call the authorized rebuilder (Tomadur Engine) to see what size the C4TZ-HX engine was.
i bought it for $125.00 with the trans still hooked to it.i s it better for my 68 than the 360?
i'll try to find more #'s those are the only #'s on the heads i see at this time unless there under the rockers.
and the block has the 352 on it like the fe's with a full size oil pan.
AHA!!...352 on the block?
That's a 330 MD engine used 1964/72. The 1964/67's used a 352 crank, the 1968/72's used a 360 crank.
The 330 HD and the 361/391's are a different casting.
