Hi Everyone,
I don't know if many of you are in areas where they have the Toys For Tots drive that the Marines run. We have it here locally and I just learned that the donations have been way down so far this year. I have no knowledge if this is the case everywhere but you folks might want to look into it. It just breaks my hesrt to think that what little the kids they help have to look forward to if they don't get the toys donated.
I am usually skeptical of a lot of charity organizations because so much gets funneled off to so-called opperational costs. However, this is one effort that I support because 100 % 0f what they get is distributed to the kids.
Hey, Maybe you could donate a little toy Ford Truck to start them off right... (there, that makes it on topic, doesn't it ???)
Toys for Tots is an important part of everyones Holiday.
Here in the San Diego Area, the US Marine Corps Reserve handles the drive and they are being aided by the Wives of the San Diego Chargers.
Having come from a Military Family and done some volunteer work for the services, I have seen what these very small contributions can do to bring the Holiday Spirit to the underpriviliaged.
If you have an opportunity, please remember those who are not as fortunate as yourself, and always remember to support our Military personnel and their families....It means so much.
Our local Beer & Burger joint, Biff Burger, in St. Petersburg, Florida, was the largest private Toys for Tots collector in the nation last year. It's not a large place at all, maybe just a little bigger than your adverage McD's but they have two bike nites a week and car's on Friday nights. Our motorcycle dealership has been supporting them for years.
I also like the fact that 100% of the proceeds go to the children.
Our truck club puts on a cruise in downtown East Palestine, Ohio on the third weekend in August and it is for Toys for Tots. This past cruise we were able to donate about $1500.00 worth of toys and almost $4200.00 in cash. The cruisers are some of the most generous people there are and my heartfelt thanks go out to all who can and will donate to those in need regardless what there situation may be.
They collected a huge pile of stuff in Syracuse! It's good to know that there are still outfits out there doing good and not skimming too much off the top! TFT has been grate in upstate NY!
